Emerson announces a new feature pack for its DeltaV distributed control system, featuring PROFINET S2 device support, more flexible operator training capabilities, and robust HMI change management functions.

Claudio Fayad, Vice President of Emerson Process Systems and Solutions stated: “The new capabilities in DeltaV Version 15 Feature Pack 3 empower modern process manufacturers to address current and future industry challenges. This latest release maintains DeltaV’s major version release cadence while enabling users to achieve project cost savings and operational efficiency gains faster through new control system software features.”

The latest DeltaV release continues the evolution toward a software-defined automation system that integrates proven technologies, enabling users to adapt more flexibly to increasingly complex operating environments. Users can now leverage the IQ Controller infrastructure—a fault-tolerant, modular, software-defined controller capable of handling even the most demanding process control applications within a server-based environment.

DeltaV PK controllers now support S2 system redundancy, providing resilience during controller switching. Additionally, PK controllers’ support for PROFINET S2 devices enables easier adaptation to process changes, delivering a significant leap forward.

Feature Pack 3 not only adds version control to DeltaV Live, delivering a modern change management and audit trail solution—a breakthrough for DeltaV installations in highly regulated manufacturing sectors like life sciences. Users can check in and out graphics for customization, intuitively analyze who made changes to graphics and other HMI elements, and determine the reasons behind those changes. Furthermore, users can easily export their customized version control reports for audit purposes.

It also enhances the DeltaV Simulate training and development suite, improving virtual controller twin functionality for offline development, testing, and effective training. With the new “Save and Restore” snapshot feature, training instructors can enrich the learning experience by demonstrating how different choices impact operations to operators.

DeltaV Version 15 Feature Pack 3 was showcased at Emerson Exchange 2025, held May 19-22 in San Antonio, Texas.

This update not only enables manufacturers to leverage new technologies but also impacts people’s lives worldwide, truly embodying the adage that technology is the primary productive force.

If the newly released features gain widespread adoption, the coming years and decades will undoubtedly reveal a transformed world.
