Rockwell Automation has launched a new Micro820 L20E controller, expanding the product range
January 5, 2026
As one of the global leading enterprises in the fields of industrial automation, informatization and digital transformation, Rockwell Automation recently launched the new Allen-Bradley® Micro820® L20E controller. This controller is compact in size and features superior performance and enhanced connectivity capabilities. Its design aims to simplify integration and accelerate the debugging process, helping machine manufacturers enhance operational efficiency and accelerate market entry.
The new L20E controller adds several new functions to the existing LC20 controller, achieving performance improvements in program execution, I/O response, and communication. With 1-class implicit messages, the new controller can support up to four nodes, thereby enhancing communication connection efficiency and improving real-time control and reliability between devices. Additionally, the equipped modern USB Type C port simplifies the initial setup and configuration process of the machine, helping to save programming time.
These brand-new microcontrollers are compatible with the Connected Components Workbench™ software version 23 and the FactoryTalk® Design Workbench™ software version 1 and above, allowing users to leverage their advanced functions in an intuitive programming environment.
As a new member of the Micro800 series, the launch of the Micro820 L20E controller offers a more streamlined, efficient and cost-effective solution for the development of intelligent machines.
Rockwell also owns several independent brand products, such as
Allen-Bradley: Automated control hardware Core brand, providing most of the automated hardware products such as PLCs, drivers, sensors, etc.
Rockwell Software: Industrial software provides software such as control system programming, human-machine interface (HMI), and manufacturing execution system (MES).
Reliance Electric: Motors and Drives Offer motors, gearboxes and drive products
Dodge: Mechanical power transmission Provides mechanical transmission products such as bearings, gearboxes, and belts
In fact, the predecessor of Rockwell was Allen-Bradley. However, it was acquired in 1985 and became an independent Rockwell company in 2001. Therefore, Allen-Bradley is the core brand. Below, I will list the core product information and descriptions of multiple series around this brand.
| Main product series | Specific series | Core Product/Description |
| Control and Automation | PLC/PAC | ControlLogix , CompactLogix (Middle-type), Micro800 series |
| Industrial computers and monitors | VersaView industrial computer, ASEM industrial computer and monitor | |
| I/O Modules | FLEX 5000 I/O, Point I/O, ArmorBlock I/O | |
| Transmission and Motion Control | Frequency converter and servo drive | PowerFlex Frequency, Kinetix servo drive |
| Sensing and Security | Sensors and switches | Photoelectric/proximity sensors, limit switches, safety switches, etc. |
