Bently Nevada 3500/32M Core Function
Distributed Machinery Protection Logic
The Bently Nevada 3500/32M operates as four independent processing nodes within a 3500 rack. Unlike basic relay units, it enables custom cause-effect chains across machinery parameters (vibration, temperature, process values) by polling any monitor channel or combination of channels in the rack. This transforms it into a decision-making hub for complex shutdown sequences or tiered alarms .
Field-Configurable Relay Modes with Safety Constraints
Each relay channel supports software-selected Normally De-energized (NDE) or Normally Energized (NE) operation. Critical for fail-safe design, contact ratings are context-dependent: while rated for ≤250V AC/≤30V DC general use, deployment in Class I Div 2 / Zone 2 hazardous areas or SIL-certified safety systems mandates ≤30V AC/DC operation to comply with intrinsic safety spacing rules . This ensures flexibility without compromising safety integrity.
Integrated Diagnostics & Rack-Synced Status Indication
Three dedicated LEDs provide immediate health and operational insights:
OK LED: Confirms module processor functionality.
TX/RX LED: Flashes during active communication with other rack modules, verifying data lane integrity.
CH ALARM LED: Per-channel illumination signals local relay activation, enabling rapid fault localization without software . This triplet provides at-a-glance rack coherence validation.
