What is the working principle of UNS3020A-Z?
The vector sum of three-phase currents is zero.
In the event of a single-phase ground fault, insulation breakdown, line-to-enclosure contact, or leakage—where a portion of the current flows into the earth—the three-phase currents become unbalanced, resulting in the appearance of zero-sequence current. When a UNS3020A-Z Ground Fault Relay detects that this leakage current to ground exceeds a preset threshold, it triggers a fault alarm, actuates the circuit breaker to trip, and cuts off the power supply.
This ensures the fastest possible prevention of electric shock, fire, equipment burnout, and similar hazards.
